Areca trees are found on the coastal belt all over the country. They are mostly found near the coast on either side of the country. And mostly in the rural areas of the country.

As the factories producing areca plates are mostly found near the availability of the raw material (areca leafs), the factories are mostly in the rural areas, because of which the factories generate employment in the rural areas, and also the leafs are discards for the farmers. The farmers now sell the leafs to the factory owners ( the leafs are raw material for the plates)

Thus we see the rural economy being given a boost by the areca plate industry.
