The Areca Nut Leaf Plate Making

The fallen areca leaf is collected from farms.  These leaves are stored , cleaned and softened with water. They are soaked in water for approximately 15 minutes and shade dried for 30 minutes. Afterwards, they are  put into a die which creates plates as big as 12 inch x 12 inch, and as small as spoons. Compression of softened leaf in different shapes with the help of die is the main process involved in making the cups and plates.

Natural Handmade has set up a unit in the village Kudashe to manufacture plates made from areca leaves, the main goal is to manufacture something which can act as an alternative to plastic and also encourage people for its usage thus discarding or minimizing the usage of plastic, thus helping our secondly goal of trying to repair our environment, and stop or slow down its degradation.
